Keisei Group’s environmental initiatives

Metrics and targets

Keisei Group’s business operations are centered on the railway business, which is relatively friendly to the global environment. Nevertheless, in view of the various impacts of climate change, we have set the Group-wide targets indicated below for reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which are one of the causes of global warming. We are committed going forward to making our contribution to realizing carbon neutrality by promoting greater energy efficiency.

Keisei Group aims to achieve a 46% reduction in CO2 emissions by FY2030 compared to FY2013 and to achieve net zero emissions (carbon neutrality) by FY2050.

* Scope of target: Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions of the Company and its consolidated subsidiaries as of October 1, 2022

TCFD initiatives

As a comprehensive lifestyle business group, Keisei Group promotes corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and aims to contribute to the development of society. With the global environment threatened by global warming and climate change, we regard climate change as our own problem and always act with consideration for harmony with the natural environment, in accordance with the “Group Action Guidelines for the Environment” set out in Keisei Group Philosophy. Recently, there has been a growing interest among investors and other stakeholders in risks and opportunities that climate change presents to companies. In July 2022, Keisei Electric Railway announced its endorsement of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations, and is working to disclose information based on the TCFD framework.

The above reports have been published in accordance with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “Ordinance on the Environment to Ensure the Health and Safety of Tokyo Residents” and the Minato Ward’s “Ordinance on Promotion of Low Carbon Buildings to Protect the Living Environment of Minato Ward Residents.”

ZEH initiatives

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism says that the ideal state for homes in 2030 is that new houses are equipped with energy-saving features that meet the ZEH standards.

To reduce the environmental impact of its detached house business, Keisei Electric Railway will continue to deliberate on the introduction of ZEH-M for the new condominium buildings it will supply in the future.

Other environmental initiatives

Keisei Group engages in the public transportation business as a means of mobility, which is relatively friendly to the global environment. Nevertheless, in view of the various impacts of climate change, the entire Group is working to improve the environmental performance of the vehicles we use to provide transportation services and to plan facilities, products, and services that are environmentally friendly.
